Are peroxide teeth whitening kits just as effective as expensive dental office bleaching treatments? Yes, but…. not all at home teeth whitening products are created equal! As a matter of fact, if you’re not careful you can end up wasting your time and money on totally ineffective products. Here are some tips on how to find a home teeth bleaching product that will brighten your smile quickly and inexpensively.
Dentist office treatments are expensive… the average national cost per visit is 0! Plus you will have to return for “touch ups” so this becomes an on-going cost. Yes, they work, but how many people have that kind of disposable income in today’s economy?
Luckily, whitening technology has advanced in recent years making at home treatments a very cost effective and practical alternative.
Some of your choices include:
- Whitening strips
- Whitening tooth paste
- Kits with mouth trays and bleaching gel (best option)
Whitening strips are flat, but your teeth are not.
Your teeth have thousands of small nooks, crannies and grooves that the strips can’t possible come in contact with. These strips are appealing because they are easy to use, but they are not very effective.
Whitening tooth paste requires you to let the gel dry and stay on overnight while you sleep. Unfortunately, your saliva dissolves this gel making this another ineffective method.
Home teeth bleaching kits with the mouth trays and peroxide gel are your best options. This will give you similar results to what you would receive at a dentist office, but at a fraction of the cost. But be careful here… most over the counter kits are ridiculously low in active ingredients with an average of 6% carbamite peroxide.
Make sure you find a peroxide teeth whitening product that has at least 15% active ingredients.
Anything less than that is a waste of your time and money.
